PLAN AHEAd

You have a special event coming up and you want to make it a good or even a great one. Fantastic! There are many things that you can do to achieve that. Last minute planning is not one of them. You may get lucky planning at the last minute but you may also waste a lot of time and money. If you are wanting entertainment, whether a magician from Charlotte or something else, expecting to find quality on short notice is unrealistic.
The more elaborate you want to be, the earlier you should start planning. If you are just going to have pizza and party favors, you can probably get away with planning a week out assuming that your guests already know about the event. However, if you are going to make it a more memorable event, it is going to take more thought and advanced preparation.
Start by makin a list of everything that you would like at your event. Not all are created equal. For example, is there going to be dancing or not. Your venue does not need to have a dance floor if you don’t plan on dancing. What type of food do you want? Not all venues have there own catering and you may be limited by catering choices.
Your entertainment choices can make or break your event. I remember being at a wedding and the DJ was not very good and then got drunk while at the wedding. One of the grooms men had to take over for him so that the rest of the guests could still enjoy the night. This is the kind of thing that could happen when you plan at the last minute. Hiring a comedian or a magician at the last minute may have the same result. He or she may not be that funny or that magical.
When you find entertainment, listen to what they recommend to make it better. They have probably been there and done that and have learned from experience. The venue may want to set things up a certain way but that may not be the best to have the best result for your entertainment.
If you are planning an event and have questions, please feel free to reach out. If I can help, I will. Of course if you are wanting entertainment I am a little biased towards magicians, especially magicians in Charlotte, NC.
